What CardBeacon handles

Only after you explicitly allow AI photo sharing, card photos you choose—including front/back scans or a binder page—are sent securely to CardBeacon’s analysis service and OpenAI for card identification. Front/back scans can also be visually assessed for condition; binder pages are not condition graded. Card name, set, collector number, visible condition signals where applicable, and pricing matches are returned to the app. You can revoke this permission from Account settings.

Collection storage, optional account, and billing identity

Your collection is stored on this device for offline access. If you sign in to a CardBeacon Account, CardBeacon stores your account email and an encrypted-in-transit copy of your cards, set progress, Chase Board, and value history in private account rows. Changes sync automatically so the same collection appears on your signed-in iPhone and iPad devices. Database access rules restrict those rows to your signed-in user. A separate random Keychain-protected installation identifier is used to enforce purchases and scan usage.

AI image and result retention

CardBeacon’s analysis endpoint does not intentionally save card photos and sends the OpenAI request with response storage disabled. OpenAI may retain API inputs and outputs for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring under its data policy unless different retention controls apply. CardBeacon stores the structured scan result—such as card identity, condition signals, and pricing match—against the billing identity so a completed request can be retried safely and the associated scan charge can be audited. Do not include people, addresses, receipts, or other personal information in a card photo.

Catalog, prices, artwork, and purchases

Card catalog data, card artwork, and market references come directly from third-party catalog services. CardBeacon does not host Pokémon card images. Apple processes payments. CardBeacon verifies Apple-signed StoreKit product, transaction, entitlement, expiration, and refund status and stores an auditable scan balance against the random installation identifier. CardBeacon does not receive payment-card details.

Tracking and sale

CardBeacon does not sell personal information, serve third-party advertising, or track you across other companies’ apps and websites. Standard network information such as an IP address may be processed by hosting and data providers to deliver and secure requests.

Questions and choices

You can stop AI processing by declining or revoking AI photo permission, delete individual cards, or permanently delete your CardBeacon account and cloud collection from Account settings. Subscriptions are managed in your Apple ID settings. For privacy questions, email sergemoraru@gmail.com.
